The Deep Further Fact podcast explores topics in philosophy and economics, particularly where they overlap. The phrase “the deep further fact” is a phrase in Part 3 of Derek Parfit’s 1984 masterpiece “Reasons and Persons,” indicating the most common (but false) view of personal identity, and is a recurring theme here. It is basically a claim about the existence of an enduring essence – something like a soul – a claim rejected here. The ramifications of this rejection run through just about anything of importance one can think of.
The topics covered in this podcast lean philosophically, but economics is applied where useful. There is much overlap between the two, along with psychology, sociology and the other social sciences, and the aim here is to cover as much of this ground as possible. We hope you enjoy your time here.
